Rouge One Does Not Disappoint

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” premieres December 16th, and people are excited.

This story will be the eighth movie in the “Star Wars” franchise and the second of the new era, not the classics with Harrison Ford and Carrey Fisher, and not the un-loved Hayden Christenson and Natalie Portman.

“Rogue One”, directed by Gareth Edwards, will be about many unlikely heroes coming together to steal the plans to the Death Star. Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones, a rebellion soldier and criminal, has to lead the mission with a hodge-podge group of people all with different talents and skills. This movie also teases Darth Vadar in the film, but we don’t know exactly when he is going to show up.

This movie will star many people including Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, and Forest Whitaker.

Felicity Jones has starred in movies such as “The Theory of Everything” and “Inferno”. Diego Luna has also starred in the movie “The Book of Life.” Mads Mikkelsen was the main villain in the Marvel hit “Doctor Strange” and has also been the Bond hit “Casino Royale” and the television show “Hannibal.” Forest Whitaker has been in the movie “The Butler.”

This cast is star-studded but many can’t get over the fact that Harrison Ford will not be in this one. When “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” came out, the Solo plot twist came unexpectedly and hurt many fans. Some people are also saying that this new movie does not look like a “Star Wars” movie.

I am really excited for this film. I loved the last one; it exceeded my expectations for a new Star Wars movie. But I really hope that this movie will be even better. With Jones as the lead, hopefully this, while being action packed and full of great CGI, will also have a great impact on adding another woman to the Star Wars universe. She will be joining the ranks with Rey so hopefully she will be able to hold her own in the male dominated movies.

All I know is that I will be sitting the audience opening weekend, with popcorn in hand.
