It’s been two years since Jamie Dornan debuted as the well-known fictional character Christian Grey in “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
In the first installment of this series we saw the life of Anastasia Steele, played by Dakota Johnson, drastically change once she met the handsome, billionaire Mr. Grey. Things all started when Ana has to interview Christian because her friend has fallen ill and can’t do it herself. Immediately they are drawn to each other and always run into one another again and again.
Their unique relationship grows and Ana contemplates giving into Christian’s will and signing the contract to be with him physically. He gives her many gifts trying to persuade her, but Ana soon realizes what she would be getting into if she gave consent to Christian.
Ana realizes her feelings for Christian have moved past just physical and she is disgusted by what she could have gotten herself into. After she realizes this she becomes very upset to the point where she leaves Christian without a word.
This is where the first movie ends.
In “Fifty Shades Darker”, Ana is working at Seattle Independent Publishing and yet again finds herself in a situation where a very persistent man asks her out. Soon she finds herself reconnecting with Christian, but on her terms.
This installment is largely focused on the issues that arise from Christian’s past partners and Ana’s paranoia that their normal relationship will not be enough for him.
Viewers get an insight on what the brooding, Christian Grey’s early life was like. Mr. Grey’s family is present a lot throughout this film and so is the woman who first seduced Christian at the age of 15.
Christian battles with problems within himself throughout this film, like how he truly feels about Anastasia. Ana on the other hand has to find a way to get rid of Christian’s crazy past submissive before she gets in the way of Christian and Ana’s relationship.
A large part of this film is at a masquerade in the Grey household, this is where Ana first meets her antagonist Elena Lincoln. Elena is jealous to see Christian caring for Ana romantically and not just physically.
There are lots of turns in the relationship of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in “Fifty Shades Darker” and fans of the series are excited to see how the film depicts it all.
The highly anticipated sequel to “Fifty Shades of Grey” hit theaters February 14, perfect for some Valentine’s Day fun.
