Swedish pop band ABBA is returning to music for the first time in nearly 40 years.

ABBA, who were popular in the 1970s and regained popularity from the award-winning play and movie Mamma Mia, announced their comeback set for September 2021. On Aug. 26, 2021, ABBA released a tweet simply stating, “Join us at abbavoyage.com”

Soon after, ABBA announced the title of their new album, “Voyage.” The band’s upcoming ninth studio album’s announcement was revealed along with two brand new singles, “I Still Have Faith in You” and “Don’t Shut Me Down.”

“Voyage” marks ABBA’s first album since “The Visitors,” which was released in November 1981.

To support the album, ABBA announced a brand new concert tour called “Voyage Tour.” A Las Vegas residency, the show will be performed by holograms of the ABBA members, titled ABBAtars.

ABBA was formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1972. The group consisted of Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Anderson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. Together, their first initials created the acronym and band name, ABBA.

The group is known for decade defining hits, including “Dancing Queen,” “Gimme Gimme Gimme” and “Fernando.”

“Voyage” is set to be released on Nov. 5, 2021.
