TikTok isn’t the only TikTok

Reels, shorts and stories; TikTok is not the only one of itself anymore. By being one of the most profitable and downloaded applications, its competitors take a form of its current self.

TikTok itself has an audience composed mostly of children and young adults, who are more likely to be impressionable. Such users are being pressed to be the next star on the platform and with a delicately formed-algorithm, this is made true.

However, taking advantage of these groups leads to complications; TikTok faces fines, charges and lawsuits for leaking user data from the app. Despite this, the platform holds its secured success.

These costs from cases are still not what cost them the most: it’s the opportunity cost of having the dupes.

Many apps, such as Instagram, YouTube and Snapchat run the same format of 30-60 second videos that are often overlapped with music.

A lot of existing social media apps are also adding special sections dedicated specifically to these TikTok copies.

Additionally, some new apps have been created to mimic TikTok almost exactly, following the same format and style.

With a net wort of about fifty million dollars, TikTok is still one of the leading social media apps.
