I was lucky enough to interview two young, and incredibly talented artists, both quite different. I even got to see some of their skillful work.

Adeline Freeman, a freshman at GBHS, is an aspiring artist. I was lucky enough to see an amazing example of some of work she has done. It was a beautiful young woman, and every detail was done perfectly down to the last strand of hair which was slightly askew. All of this adds to the illusion of this woman being almost real.

You could see every little feature of this woman; it almost looked like a photograph.

When I asked her when she started doing art, she said, “ever since I was little.” She would doodle and draw randomly, and she just picked up on it. She doesn’t even know where her talent was found, she just said, “I don’t really know, it just built up over time.”

And when I asked her what type of art she makes, she responded with, “I do mostly realism, and random little characters.” Her art is based around cartoons, Amphibia, and Infinity Train.

Luckily for Adeline, her talent could be taken into as a career in the future. She said, “As a career, in the future I could potentially have a career in animation, or an animator.”

Adeline’s family has a history of art, too. Her grandma, on her dad’s side, does paintings, mostly in realism. She thinks that is where she got her talent from. When it comes to how long her artwork takes, she said, “really depends on what I’m doing. If I’m just doodling, it can take seconds, as for more difficult pieces, they can take weeks.”

Sarah Hicks, another artist, is a sophomore at GBHS. Her art style is pottery, and even though she just started doing it, she is very talented. Her inspiration to join the class, she said, “I’ve always loved art, and I always wanted to join the class, so I did.”

Sarah told me that the best part of being in the class is just being able to create and make pottery. As for career wise, she said she would want to pursue pottery as a career if she is able.

For Sarah, none of her family is into art. She says her talent just showed up naturally when she randomly started doing it.
