Malia Ludwick is a Senior in Mrs. Day’s second period AP art class. Ludwick has been practicing art for as long as she can remember.

She creates new pieces using many different mediums, such as pencil, watercolor, and acrylic paints, as well as other things. Her pieces can take anywhere from thirty minutes to about a week, depending on the size, level of detail, and materials she uses.

When asked her biggest role model Malia told me, “Well it constantly changes, as I grow and get better, I find different peoples art and specific elements in it that I try to replicate and once I master that I find a new technique I want to try. So, it is a never-ending cycle.”

Ludwick says that the main reason she does her personal artwork is to stay creative and it is therapeutic, she is incredibly happy when she is creating. She describes her style as “whimsical,” her favorite color is periwinkle or lavender purple.

Ludwick’s favorite style is art Nouveau, which is extremely detailed, ornate, and decorative. Her favorite historical artists are Alphonse Mucha who was a Bohemian and Czech painter. And D.C. Leyendecker, who specialized in advertisements and posters. One of her main goals for this semmester is to finish her AP art portfolio.

On the professional level Malia is extremely interested in 3D art and animation. She is seeking a career as a 3D illustrator.
