The track and field season kicked off at the start of the srping season, and they’ve been going strong since. The team has had a lot of fun this seaon, and they’ve put a lot of effort into their upcoming districts.

Track and field is an especially unique team to be on, because their are several teams within the team. They have sprinters, hurtlers, pole vaulters, javelin throwers and more. Each team has their own areas, but participiants from each team can branch out and join other teams.

For example, senior Savannah Jacobi (previously a sprinter and relay runner) has decided to do hurtles this year. “Somehow,” said Jacobi. “I ran in my first invitational last week and placed 4th. Hopefully if I keep improving I can place on a regional level!”

But annual returners for various sports always have a blast, as well. Senior pole vaulter Catherine Isakson said that the season was still exciting, even after years of competing. “The best part is that moment after you get a new personal record, or even just the friends you make and people you meet,” said Isakson.

Senior Spencer Creighton had to agree. “Meeting new people and reconnecting with familiar one is the best part of the season.”

Each team is looking forward to their upcoming districts, and hopeful that one or two of their team’s atheletes will advance to compete in regionals.

Make sure you go support your Dolphins track and field team at districts this week!
