Baseball knocks it out of the Park

Our baseball team has wrapped up a strong competitive season.

They started out the year with a win of 4-2 against Fort Walton. In their third game, and second away game, they won 13-4 against Pace. In their fourth game of the season, they had an incredible 14-12 win against Pensacola Catholic. Throughout the rest of the season, they triumphed against schools like Tate, Orange Beach, and Baker. “I’d say my favorite game was probably when we beat Catholic,” says player Tucker Goodson. “One of our last games against Pace was our standout game,” states freshman Max Harrison.

As well as dominating the regular season, the team made it to the playoffs. On April 24 they went up against Lincoln in their final away game. Though they lost 6-4, our Dolphins played well against the Trojans and gave it their all.

Throughout the season, the teams have been working hard to get better both physically and mentally. “We just want to develop as players and as a team,” says Max Harrison. “We wanted to have a winning record,” states Tucker Goodson, “we finished off pretty good”.

Whether or not you know anything about the sport, baseball is a tough one to play, but our team shows that all their hard work was worth it. Tucker Goodson said it best when asked what advice he’d give to someone looking into getting into baseball, “Train hard. Try not to get into your head a lot, be confident.”

This season has been a great one for our baseball teams. They had a strong drive, great objectives, and the determination that helped them win. Despite Head Coach Fant’s departure at the end of the season, the GBHS Administration stated in an email sent to parents that they “will begin the process of identifying the next head baseball coach to lead [the] program forward” so it looks like the Boys Baseball team will have another promising season again next year!
