The 2024 United States Presidential election results are official: Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance have won the election, winning both the electoral college and the popular vote in a landslide victory. In addition, the Republican Party gained control of the House of Representatives and the Senate, making it a government with a Republican-controlled trifecta. These developments raise big questions that all students, teachers, and community members are worried about: Is America ready for a 2nd Trump Presidency? Will America truly improve? Is democracy at stake?
On the right, the Biden Presidency, including former Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris, have sent the nation into a downward spiral: opening the border to millions of illegal immigrants and raising inflation and prices for all Americans. For the left, concerns have been raised about the methods that the 2nd Trump Presidency will take to achieving their immigration goals, his cabinet appointments, and his policies. -people think trump could possibly split up families of people who have illegals in their family by deporting family members, or his odd decisions for the different secretaries such as choosing Robert Fitzgerald Kennedy, who was previously skeptical of vaccines, to serve as health secretary, or whether trump will reduce women’s rights by signing an abortion ban.
Trump’s victory of the popular and electoral vote makes him the first in 20 years to win after George W. bush won back in 2004 when he was reelected over John F. Kerry. Also, the last time a republican won the election by over 300 electoral votes was in 1988 when George H.W. Bush won by a staggering 422 electoral votes.
I personally believe that Donald Trump winning is a good thing. The last few years have been rough, before Biden took office my parents were able to afford more luxuries such as vacation but due to the inflation caused by Biden, we haven’t been able to the things we used to, like being able to take a plane to vacation instead of driving.
Whether you believe the Trump being elected was one thing America needed, or if you think Trump being elected will take away your rights, remember Trump wants to protect your rights and said during multiple rallies that we does not support signing a nationwide abortion ban and he will do anything in his power to make sure that your keep your freedoms that you would always have living in the USA.
