Dolphins Football is Back- And Creating History

Before the Dolphins took on the Escambia Gators, head coach Jeff Gierke spoke on the mistakes made against Crestview and how they plan to fix them. Gierke said, “The biggest thing was protection. We got a really good passing game and two good quarterbacks and a bunch of wide receivers, but we couldn’t get the ball to them because we couldn’t protect the quarterback. So, we really stressed this week on getting the protection solidified so we can get the ball off because we can’t throw the ball every down if we’re getting sacked.” When asked about who were going to be the key players versus Escambia, Gierke said, “Parker Mays, he’s being put in strictly to block. And Luke Denby. If those two guys have good games, we should have a really good chance to win.”

Against the Escambia Gators, Dolphin quarterbacks Battle Alberson and Jake Frazetta combined for 294 yards, Alberson throwing two touchdowns. The Dolphins receivers also had a game, totaling 287 yards and averaging 14.4 yards per reception. Senior Bryson Rouillier had nine receptions for a whopping 152 yards, averaging 16.9 yards per reception, which is more than the team average. Looking into the defensive stats, junior Dillion Pinardo had an electric interception in the first quarter, followed by a ten-yard run back. Sophomore Noah Perez had six solo tackles and assisted on six, totaling 12 tackles. Junior Anthony Lee had a sack. As a team, the Dolphins combined for 60 total tackles and a sack. Senior Roehn Maldonado blocked one field goal and senior Luke Denby blocked two.

Going into the Milton game, the Dolphins had something to prove. After dropping their first two, the Dolphins had to make a point.
