There are so many amazing teachers at Gulf Breeze that love what they do and enjoy teaching their students each day. Among them is Stephanie Duffy.

Duffy is one of the geometry teachers at our school. She has been teaching this subject to students for 28 years. She has been teaching high school for 33 years. She taught in Texas before moving to Gulf Breeze. Duffy stated, “I believe I am the most seasoned math teacher. I have taught the parents of some of my current students. Makes me sound so old, but I don’t feel that old.”

Duffy loves teaching at Gulf Breeze and is inspired to teach by her students and math every single day. “I love my subject, especially the visual aspect of Geometry. It is never a dull moment trying to inspire my students to take an interest in learning math and applying to this Universal Language.

I also love being surrounded by so many dedicated teachers that take pride in their profession.” Duffy said.

Each quarter, Duffy assigns a project to each of her classes.

The fourth quarter project is what Duffy looks forward to most each school year. Duffy says, “The last 9-weeks project I assign for my Geometry classes is my FAVORITE! It is a video project. Students let their creativity flow in the form of a music video, commercial, or mini movie. They get to show what they have learned by reteaching a concept learned in my class. I have been assigning this project for over 27 years, and yes, I still have some projects on VHS tapes! The last week of school we watch these video projects, we eat popcorn, and laugh and sometimes cry. They are the grand finale for my classes, and I truly love watching my students apply what they have learned. They never cease to amaze me!”

Duffy loves teaching her students the concept of The Pythagorean Theorem each year. “How cool is it that we go back to Ancient Civilizations and still teach this incredibly important concept. Right triangles ROCK! Teaching the Pythagorean Theorem in geometry is like an appetizer for what is to come! This Theorem explodes into other courses such as Trigonometry, Physics, and of course Calculus. I love having the opportunity to hook my students into loving this Theorem.” Duffy wrote.

Duffy is also one of the sponsors for the Gulf Breeze High School Optimist Club.

She is an amazing sponsor and truly inspires her students to want to go out and help our local community.

She has a true passion for teaching students at Gulf Breeze.

Without Duffy, Gulf Breeze High School would be a very different place.

She has made an impact on not only her students, but also many of her fellow coworkers and teachers.

Gulf Breeze loves Mrs. Duffy and cannot wait to continue to watch her teach students new and exciting things every day.
