Staff Editorial: Surplus Senior Skip Days

"The Blue and Gold" Staff

Let’s talk about senior skip days. There have already been two skip days – senior sunrise and the Monday after homecoming – and there is talk of one more before fall break. Since we’re just throwing around free days, “The Blue and Gold” suggests a few more! Let’s start with Groundhog Day, March 13, Betty White’s 100th birthday and Danny Brothers’ anniversary. Are these not enough? How about Dewey Decimal Day and National Unicorn Day? Still not satisfied? What about National Battery Day or National Dress Your Pet Day? National Pigs in a Blanket Day? Mason Jar Day? Skip back to back with Star Wars Day and Cinco de Mayo! Plus, we already have the given day of April 20th! In fact, we’re inviting everyone, not just seniors, to skip as well! Juniors, Sophomores and freshman are now welcome to participate!

But seriously. Seniors need to be more appreciative of the days of school that they already have. Imagine being a senior in 2020 and all you want is to go to school. Truthfully, the only person who deserved to skip school the Monday after homecoming was Mrs. Smith, but she was still here.

Seniors, cherish the time you get to have in the classroom and be sure to attend school.
