A member of both beach volleyball and women’s volleyball at Gulf Breeze, Riley Bloomberg does it all! A senior in the setting position, Bloomberg wears the #4, however, she actively displays that she’s all 10s across the board! Recently named captain, Riley has taken on leadership of our lady dolphins this year. Known as a “hype man” and super optimistic teammate, Riley lights up the court!
Last season, Bloomberg was ranked #3, with a whopping count of 519, in the district for assists, and, as of right now, she is ranked #51 in the state of Florida for aces served. Her attitude is also a huge contributor to her success. When asked her style of play, Bloomberg had this to say; “I would say I’m very loud…I’m cheering, but I’m also like we’ve got to go, we’ve got to do this, and we can do this.” Her versatility is unmatched and a true weapon for the Dolphins.
This year is Riley’s 3rd on varsity, but not her first making waves. She was also named athlete of the issue last year and selected as MaxPreps player of the match 5 times last season.
As a setter, Riley has to constantly be thinking ahead, and connecting with her teammates. Her favorite thing about volleyball is “How much strategy is involved in it. I also really like how hype everyone can get. When everyone is excited about something, the court just feels so good.” The on and off court connection with the Lady Dolphins is another strength of the team this year. With a close-knit environment, and genuine comradery and friendship between the girls, the level of play just becomes that much more elevated.
Outside of volleyball, Riley is an avid scholar, member of literature club, gym goer, and confidant. She enjoys traveling, going to the beach, working out, and hanging out with her friends. The “splash zone” regularly sees a playmaker, an aggressive, calculated, and precise Riley. However, when game time runs out, and the shoes get hung up, Bloomberg’s positive and team-player mindset continues into everyday life.
As a cherished member of the Gulf Breeze Community, everyone from Proper to Midway is excited to see all she does this season. Congratulations Riley!
