Taylor Swift’s Fans Loving Re-Recordings
November 19, 2021
Taylor Swift first released her first re-recording (Taylor’s version) on April 9, 2021. The first album she chose to re-record was “Fearless.” Which consisted of the songs “Love story,” “ You Belong with Me” and “Fifteen.” The release was a hit and the reason was even more a diss.
In 2005, Swift signed up to “A Big Machine Records” as a young country singer. It was sold to a private equity owned by a music manager, Scooter Braun. Her contract ended with them in 2018. But before that, she didn’t have full ownership of her songs but would only get a certain royalty amount. In her new contract, she signed up with “Universal Republic Records”. She made sure that she would receive full ownership of her songs.
After Scooter Braun sold her masters to another company, for a reported 300 million, Swift opened on social media revealing how the powerhouse manager had bullied her. She then decided to do the unexpected, something no singer had done before. Swift decided to re-record her masters so whenever her version of the song is played, Swift will receive all the profits.
The first album she released after the fact, was “Lover.” And so on for every new album after that, she owns. “Taylor Swift self-titled,” “Speak Now,” “1989” and “Reputation” have still not been re-recorded yet. It’s still a mystery to see what she is going to release next, and in what order. Currently, “Red” is coming out on November 12, 2021. Fans noticed she isn’t going in from the original releases of the albums. She even released “Wildest Dreams” from the album “1989” as a single since it was trending big on TikTok.
