The King’s Man is a spy movie packed with action by Matthew Vaughn and Karl Gajdusek. The movie was released on Dec. 22. 2021.

The original release date for the film was sometime in November 2019 but it was delayed because of COVID-19. The movie is rated R for the excessive amount of violence. The film is set from 1902-1914.

The opening scene shows the Duke of Oxford, his wife Emily and their young son visiting a concentration camp. While they are there, there is an enemy attack and Emily ends up dead, while the Duke is shot in the leg. The next scene has jumped into the future 1914 where Conrad (the Duke’s son) is learning to spar.

At this point Orlando has started his secret service organization known too few as the Kingsman. Orlandos secret organization’s goal is specifically designed to protect and serve the United Kingdom from the approaching war.

Orlando’s son, Conrad, wants to join the war, but his father is adamant that Conrad stays home where it is safe. Later in the movie Conrad ends up saving the Arch Duke for a hand grenade thrown by an enemy intent on stirring up a war.

Sadly, the bomb trougher escapes and ends up shooting the Arch Duke and is wife anyways. Orlando and Conrad and the rest of their team find out that the shooter was a part of a plot to set Germany, Russia and the British Empire against each other.

Conrad and Orlando with a few other members of the team go on many daring missions including one where they murder Rasputin. The Kingsman have good intentions with Rasputin’s murder however, for Rasputin was manipulating Tsar Nicholas or Russia into joining the war.

Eventually the Kingsman finds the leader of the secret group intents on trying to start a war in a mountain top base. After an amazing fight that had me on the edge of my seat the kings’ men won and the danger ceased.

I highly enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in a historical suspenseful thriller. My only issue with movie was the excessive amount of violence and the fact that the plot was very slow.
