Euphoria is a show that centers around Rue Bennett, played by Zendaya, and her addiction to drugs. The show takes place in a fictional town called East Highland.

Euphoria is based on the life struggles of a group of teenagers in their junior year of high school.

Rue has an addiction to many drugs including heroine, cocaine and many of her recently deceased dads prescription drugs. For as long as she remembers, Rue’s dad had been sick. Finally, in her freshman year of high school, her dad passed away from his sickness.

Rue’s friends, Maddy Perez, Cassie Howard, Kat Hernandez and Lexi Howard, all have struggles of their own that get displayed at some time during the shows two seasons.

Maddy and her on and off boyfriend Nate Jacobs, Jacob Elordi, represent a physically and emotionally abusive relationship to try and give awareness to teens in abusive relationships or situations.

Cassie, Sydney Sweeney, and Maddy, Alexa Demi, are best friends and have an unbreakable bond until Cassie grows a relationship with Madi’s ex boyfriend Nate. This affair ruined their friendship and took away any trust Madi had for Cassie. This crisis has fans taking sides with either of the characters involved.

Kat, played by Barbie Ferreira, has issues of her own including in episode 3 of season 2, when she has a vision in her head like most of the characters often do, her vision included her sitting in her room when a group of models appeared. Kat tells them about how insecure she is and how much self hate she has and they convinced her that she is beautiful the way she is.

In season two, Lexi, played by Maude Apatow, reveals that she is putting on a play called “It” which is based on the lives of her classmates and friends. The play is shown in season two episode 7. During the play the characters start to realize the play is based on their lives and some are not happy about it while others think it’s hilarious.

Nate Jacobs father, Cal Jacobs, has his own issues. Some including that he has various affairs with women, cheating on his wife and is lying to everyone about his sexuality. Nate finds out about both of these issues and resents Cal, occasionally using the information to black mail and manipulate his father.

Euphoria is the new “hot topic” show and though it might be triggering to some, it teaches valuable lessons about the teenage life and the obstacles to avoid. The show has two seasons so far, the season finale came out Sunday Feb 26th at 8:00 pm.

This episode will be a wrap on season two, but the Euphoria cast and directors have already announced that there will be a third season. I look forward to the third season because Euphoria has easily became one of my favorite shows and I live watching everything play out.
