A new trailer for the upcoming Pixar movie ‘Lightyear’ has been recently released, with the official release date for the movie June 17, 2022. Directed by Angus MacLane, Lightyear is a spinoff of Pixar’s Toy Story franchise and tells the origin story of Buzz Lightyear, the fictional astronaut the toy line was based off of.

The character, who has also spawned a spinoff series called ‘Buzz Lightyear of Star Command’ and a movie titled ‘Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins’, was voiced by Tim Allen in the Toy Story movies, and Chris Evans will be taking over the mantle in Lightyear.

The latest trailer of the movie shows that, not only will the film be an adventure across space, but it will also explore time travel. In the film, Buzz is still a young Space Ranger working for the organization called the Star Command. In his first test flight for Star Command, he ends up traveling sixty-two years into the future and the story revolves around his quest to get back home with friends and support.

Making things even more difficult for Buzz is the Evil Emperor Zurg, his arch nemesis. Written and designed as a parody of Darth Vader, Zurg has a massive robot army at his disposal, and plots to take down Star Command once and for all. You don’t miss this new release coming out this summer.
