Sony’s new movie Bullet Train released
September 27, 2022
Based on the 2010 book Maria Bītoru by Kōtarō Isaka, Bullet Train is a rated R action comedy directed by David Leitch, starring Brad Pitt, Joey King, Arron-Taylor Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Andrew Koji, Hiroyuki Sanada, Michael Shannon, Zazie Beets, Bad Bunny, and Sandra Bullock. It was released on August fifth, 2022.
The movie follows an American assassin (Brad Pitt) who has the code name Ladybug, given by his handler, Maria Beetle, (Sandra Bullock) as an ironic joke as he is seen as unlucky. Pitt’s character is sent on a mission to steal a briefcase full of money inside a bullet train.
Ladybug thought this was going to be an easy mission, but his bad luck seems to be at an all-time high. He is on the train with 4 other assassins, Tangerine (Arron-Taylor Johnson) and Lemon (Brian Tyree Henry), the Prince (Joey King), and the Hornet (Zazie Beets), and all their missions lead back to getting the briefcase.
Ladybug ends up taking the briefcase from Tangerine and his brother Lemon who are a British assassin team known as The Twins. They were hired by the White Death (Michael Shannon), who is the main antagonist of the movie. He’s the leader of a large criminal empire in Tokyo, Japan. The White Death hired them to bring the briefcase and his son back to him.
Kimura (Andrew Koji), also known as The Father is a retired assassin, whose son was pushed off a roof and put into critical condition. He was given a note that said, “I pushed him” and to meet them on the bullet train. He finds the person that seemingly looks like an innocent girl but turned out to be the Prince. She blackmails him into agreeing to try to kill the White Death.
Ladybug ends up having to fight the Wolf (Bad Bunny), a Mexican gangster who believes Ladybug was the one to kill his wife, but it turns out it was really the Hornet. The Hornet is an assassin that uses snake venom as her weapon. She was also sent on the bullet train to kill the White Death’s son and get the briefcase as a reward.
With a score of 77% from the total audience on rotten tomatoes, this action/mystery comedy is worth a watch. Bullet Train was very funny and extremely well written. I recommend it to anyone who likes a witty mystery.
