Start Shopping at Local Businesses More Often
October 29, 2021
Almost exactly one year ago, Hurricane Sally hit our small town of Gulf Breeze. While there was bad damage to many people’s homes, one of the biggest damages was when a barge hit our very own Three-Mile-Bridge. This was a problem for many people trying to get to and from Pensacola, but it was an even bigger problem for many of the small businesses in the area.
It took many months for the bridge to be fixed and repaired, and many businesses struggled more than ever before. Lots of people couldn’t come across the bridge to shop at these small stores and shops.
Many may remember that during this time it was very important to shop locally. Even though the bridge has been fixed and is in use again, it is still so important to shop for small businesses and shop locally.
Some places in the area that would love more shoppers include So Cute Boutique, Gibson Girl, Coastal Paddle and many other little shops.
Boutiques and stores aren’t the only business-es that need more customers.
Many restaurants and food places also want more customers that will help support them. Some of the restaurants that would love support include: Rotolo’s pizzeria, Lillo’s Tuscan Grille, Dave’s Oyster Bar and Grille and even some of the more famous fast-food chains.
Many businesses may have had to temporarily close when the bridge was being repaired. For example, McDonald’s in Gulf Breeze Prop-er closed due to not getting enough business or customers. The fast-food location is back open now and has continued to get customers daily.
Some of our local businesses are expanding in the future. Local Mexican Restaurant, Maria-chi’s, is planning on building in a new location. An opening date will hopefully be announced soon. Another restaurant that moved to a new location is Taco Rock in Gulf Breeze. They have already moved locations and are doing well and getting lots of business.
Whenever you are planning on going shop-ping with friends and family, make sure to think about our local businesses before shopping at some of the more well-known companies.
They can always use our support and they will always need more customers. Always remember to shop local and help out our small businesses.
