After months of trial and the everblooming threat of backlash from choosing one verdict over the other, a jury found Kyle Rittenhouse innocent of all charges.

The verdict comes almost a year and a half after the teenager, then 17, fatally shot rioters during the George Floyd protests turned riots.

Rittenhouse was brought to tears and reportedly hugged one of his attorneys after hearing the jury’s final decision. Rittenhouse’s defense attorney stated, “he wants to get on with his life.” Being at the mercy of a jury when you’re just at the beginning of your adult life can be stressful and Rittenhouse showed, bringing himself to tears during the trials most important moments.

Rittenhouse was acquitted but many still believe it was an injustice to those who were killed on that fateful night.
