At Gulf Breeze High School, the volleyball players train very hard starting in May, even though their season does not start until August. The girls who play on the team are all very hard working and committed to their team whether they are on the freshman team, JV, or varsity. Our varsity team had their first pre-season game against Pace High School on Tuesday, August 13th. Gulf Breeze won in three sets out of five. Sophie Stringfellow (14), a sophomore setter on varsity, loves her teammates and her coach.

When asked “how do you feel about your teammates”, Sophie answers saying: “they’re cute and fun”. This shows how close Sophie is with her teammates. Rebecca Bozeman (12) is a defensive specialist/libero on the varsity team. Rebecca, just like Sophie, has a great relationship with her teammates. When asked how she feels about her fellow teammates, Rebecca says: “they’re my best friends”.

Gulf Breeze High also has an amazing group of girls for their JV team. Laney Turnage, a middle blocker/hitter on JV, says “love and happiness” when asked to describe her team in three words. Laney also commented that her team is very hard working and that their first game is on Tuesday, August 20th. Claire Boling, a freshman outside hitter on the JV team, says that her team is “funny, hard working and loving”.

The freshman volleyball team is looking really good this season as well. Dixie Farish (10), a middle blocker/hitter on the freshman team, describes her team as “loud, exciting, and funny” when asked to describe the team in three words. When interviewing Dixie, she was asked “how do you feel about your teammates”, and she answered with “they’re basically my friend group so they’re pretty fun”. Dixie also says that she is very excited about the bus rides to away games as a freshman. Skylar Hyde (5), an outside hitter on the freshman team, describes her team as “enthusiastic, uplifting, and outgoing”.

When asked if she gets along with all of her teammates, Skylar says “I like ‘em all, they all have their different personalities”. When asked if Skylar likes her coach, Skylar says “I love Coach Emily, she gives you a lot of feedback, and she’s really preppy, and she cares about what you have to say”. The first home game for volleyball is on August 27th v. Pace High School. Be there.
